February 7, 2013 ─ At the Presidential Palace, Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou received the  Founder of the Tang Prize Foundation, Dr. Samuel Yin, as well as Dr. Chi-Huey Wong, President of Academia Sinica and Chairman of the Tang Prize Selection Committee. Attorney C.V. Chen also joined the meeting in his capacity as board member of the Tang Prize Foundation, They mutually exchanged opinions on the establishment of the Tang Prize.
 
President Ma affirmed the contribution and philosophy of the Tang Prize, recognizing its conformity with his vision of the Republic of China as a peacemaker. President Ma expressed that, until now, international awards such as the Nobel Prize have been awarded by others to provide us with affirmation; now with the establishment of the Tang Prize, it shows that we have already developed to the ability where we can affirm others and therefore it is of special significance.
 
President Ma also expressed that he was extremely happy that this type of international award exists and this award will encourage positive forces, including invention and creativity.
