EB

Foreword

Experimental Biology (EB), one of the world’s largest interdisciplinary meetings in biomedicine, will hold its annual conference that begins on April 2nd, 2022. Dr. Charles Dinarello, one of the 2020 Tang Prize laureates in Biopharmaceutical Science, is going to deliver the lecture titled “IL-1 As the Master Cytokine for Inflammatory Diseases.” This will be the last time the five hosting societies of EB working together to convene the conference.

The research of the three winners of the 2020 Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science has drawn our attention to the study of cytokines, given people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis a new lease of life, and assisted in the treatment of myocardial infraction, diabetes, and cancer. When the pandemic was raging across the world, it even raised our hope of finding a way to reduce the death rate of people with severe COVID-19 infections.

Winners of the 2022 Tang Prize in Sustainable Development, Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology, and Rule of Law will be announced in a series of four days starting June 18th. What will be brought into focus with the announcement, we believe, will also be what will guide us in exploring uncharted territory and prepare us for all kinds of challenges facing the 21st century.
