The nomination and selection process of the biennial Tang Prize takes place in accordance with the following timetable, with the second year being the awarding year:
May of the first year: The Tang Prize Selection Committee sends invitations to individuals and/or institutions and ask them to nominate qualified candidates.
End of September in the first year: Deadline for submitting nominations.
From October of the first year to May of the second year: The Tang Prize Selection Committee for each prize category reviews the nominations, chooses one to three finalists, and submits a list of finalists with supporting documents to the Foundation’s Board of Directors for final approval.
May of the second year: The Foundation’s Board of Directors reviews and approves the list.
June 18-21 of the second year: The Foundation announces winners. (The press conferences announcing the 2026 Tang Prize Laureates will be held June 15–18, 2026, in consideration of the national holiday and weekend in June.)
September of the second year: The Foundation holds the award ceremony and related events.
